Charles O. Gedney was born in New York in 1909. In Rye his family lived at 209 Oakland Beach Ave and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Charles enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Charles O. Gedney, former Rye resident, 58, of 26 Joyce Road, Tuckahoe, died suddenly at his home, Tuesday morning. Born in Rye, on Oct. 10, 1909, he was the son of the late John and May Weeks Gedney. A graduate of Rye High School and a veteran of World War II, he is survived by his wife the former Marguerite Carver; three sons, Charles, Jr., Peter and Paul, and a daughter, Susan.
